I was in the Commission press room yesterday and together with other colleagues, I asked a couple of questions, trying to get a reaction from the EU executive regarding the new Hungarian media law.
I knew of course that the spokesperson would not be able to provide a real answer and would adopt a “wait-and-see” attitude. A spokesperson cannot do more. For issues of such importance, Commissioners should face the press.
I know it’s almost Christmas and probably most Commissioners have left Brussels already.
In my opinion, Fundamental Rights Commissioner Viviane Reding was good at putting pressure on France over the Roma expulsions. Now she has got an ever bigger hot potato.
Nice holidays to everyone. Early in January, we will be back with our questions.Georgi Gotev
